Having a safe, secure and comfortable place to raise your young seems like a sensible idea. A narrow ledge on a 60m cliff-face surrounded by birds is not the first place that springs to mind. Yet, these guillemots and razorbills do just that! The near-sheer drop stops any land based predators from being able to grab the eggs and with other protective parents only half a metre away in every direction, the neighbourhood watch is pretty fearsome. Conical shaped eggs mean that should they get nudged, they will roll in a tight circle preventing them from tumbling straight off the edge. Photographing this seabird high-rise was mesmerising!
