A Hare's Habitat 2

A Hare's Habitat 2

Peak District National Park

Collection: Habitats

The Dark Peak is characterised by moorland and huge expanses of peat bog. As well as acting a massive sponge and carbon sink, this harsh environment provides habitat for England's sole population of mountain hare.

Snowfall isn't always an annual occurence in the Peak District, so when the hare takes on its white pelage, it stands out against the dark brown peat.
